Abstrakt: Whenever a nerve is sectioned and continuity with its distal counterpart cannot be re-established, a neuroma of sorts results. The most obvious type is that seen in the amputation stump. The neuroma is frequently ignored when it is the cause of distress that may be bizarre and incapacitating, and is often incriminated when it is no more than an incidental finding. Neuromas of the cranial and peripheral nerves, the autonomic nervous system, and the spinal cord are described. Prevention and treatment complete the discussion.
