Abstrakt: Food allergy is an untoward immunologic reaction to a food antigen. Intestinal immune elements are an integrated feature of the intestinal mucosa capable of modulating gastrointestinal function. The precise disturbances in the normal protective role of the immune system that lead to clinically significant food allergy are still unclear, and specific investigations for diagnosis are lacking. The only practical therapy in food allergy is avoidance of the offending food responsible for symptoms.
