1.1. Statistics of the congenital malformations found among 14,834 newborn infants in National Taiwan University Hospital from 1955 to 1962 are presented. There were 129 deformed babies, an incidence of 0.87 per cent which may be somewhat lower than in other reports.2.2. No differences between mothers of malformed infants and those in a comparison series were noted in respect to percentage distribution by ABO blood groups, to the age of mother, or the birth order.3.3. The incidence of anencephalus was 0.115 per cent, a little higher than that in other reports of Asian populations. No female predominance of anencephalic babies was found, but fifty eight per cent of the mothers of anencephalic babies belonged to blood group B. |
