Abstrakt: It is shown that the lengthening of the ovipositor of the female bitterling by external stimuli cannot be considered to be a test for estrogenic hormones per se. There are substances excreted in most normal urines which initiate this phenomenon. We have shown that these causative agents are the male hormones and have established in a preliminary way the daily amounts excreted by normal male adults.
