| Abstrakt: | In a prospective investigation, macroscopic endocardial thrombi were found in 17% of 1,000 consecutive adult autopsies. Approximately half of the thrombi were not due to myocardial infarction and were usually associated with atrial fibrillation, cardiac failure or mitral stenosis. Mural thrombi were found in 26.4% of cases in cardiac failure and in 34.7% with atrial fibrillation. |
