Abstrakt: Dose variation in commercial meter valves appears to be within acceptable pharmaceutical limits. Changes in delivered dose weights were found to occur during container emptying due to formulation fractionation. A more serious problem results from failure of the meter chamber to fill uniformly when the container is almost empty (~15% remaining). Three valves were found to be superior to others in overcoming this problem. Storage position influenced drainback in meter valves, particularly at later stages of container emptying.
