The synthesis of 10 piperidine carbamates was carried out by condensation of various 3-hydroxypiperidines with dimethyl-carbamyl chloride or, alternatively, by treatment of the hydroxy compound with phosgene followed by dimethylamine. Changes were made in the length of the alkyl chain substituted on the heterocyclic nitrogen. The compounds were developed as potential cholinesterase inhibitors as a continuation of previous studies. |
