Abstrakt: To elucidate the relationship between female hormones and the occurrence of fibrinolytic activity, human vaginal smears were studied by the histochemical fibrin slide technique. Some vaginal ephithelial cells were found to be fibrinolytically active and to contain plasminogen activator. The frequency of fibrinolytically active smears increased post partum and after tire menopause.
