A group of patients were studied at varying times of gestation with the metyrapone suppression test to measure pituitary-adrenal responsiveness during pregnancy. Nine of the 12 patients studied showed a diminished response to metyrapone while the other 3 appeared to demonstrate a normal response. The mechanism for this diminished pituitary-adrenal response, after metyrapone administration in pregnant patients remains unexplained. |
