Abstrakt: A k-Wturbulence model, similar to that used by Malin and Spalding, is used to predict the decay of mean and turbulent quantities in plane and axisymmetric forced plumes issuing vertically into a stagnant uniform environment. Modelled transport equations for the turbulent kinetic energy, the mean-square vorticity fluctuations, and the mean- square temperature fluctuations are solved numerically along with the governing mean-flow equations. The scaling law proposed by Chen and Rodi is used to present predictions and measurements of the decay phenomena in a dimensionless way. In particular, more attention is given in this study to the decay of turbulent quantities than has been done in previous investigations. The numerical results are compared with available experimental data and are in reasonable agreement.
