This paper describes an updated probabilistic seismic hazard analysis which estimates potential seismic ground motions on rock sites in Hong Kong based on a new seismic source model. A detailed catalogue of historical and recent earthquakes within the South China region was reviewed and updated using data up to 2009. A new seismic source model was developed based on the consideration of seismicity, geological and tectonic information of the region, especially the source zone boundaries that were used to produce seismic hazard maps in the current Chinese code for seismic design of buildings, GB50011 [1]. |
