Abstrakt: Most persons use 2 × 2 in. slides to present their data at technical meetings. Many need to improve the quality of the slides displaying their data. Slides should be legible and attract and hold the attention of the audience. Two aspects of slide preparation need more consideration. First, the slide must be legible to all the audience. The number of letters per line should not exceed 40 letters and 14 lines on the 33 × 22 mm format, or multiples thereof. The letters should be typed (preferably in capital letters) on carbon backed paper with carbon ribbon to insure clear black type. Second, the slides should be made with colored backgrounds to catch and hold the attention of the viewer. Black and white slides with crowded data promote the snooze syndrome.
