The structure of cephalic ganglia was studied in all the larval instars and the pupae of the large fruittree tortrix Archips podanaScopoli. The main centers of the supraesophageal ganglion develop non-uniformly. At the larval stage, the mushroom bodies and structures of the central complex develop earlier than the optic ganglia and olfactory lobes. Continuity in the visual system development is expressed in integration of residues of the larval stemmata into the imaginal optic lobes at the pupal stage. |
