Periodontal (gum) disease is a preventable condition now recognised as the 6th complication of Diabetes. As well as causing premature tooth loss, the inflammatory process is known to result in a deterioration of glycaemic control contributing to the acceleration of micro and macrovascular complications of diabetes, particularly cardiovascular disease. |
