Abstrakt: An occasional problem encountered in forensic medicine is the finding of a mummified body, preserved by chance in an environment conducive to desiccation. Such individuals have usually died suddenly in an obscure location, precluding their discovery and allowing time for natural mummification to take place. In the absence of evidence of trauma, it is important to establish a natural disease process such as arteriosclerotic heart disease (ASHD) to account for death.
