Abstrakt: Due to an intense urbanization process occurring in Brazil which is characterized by a strong population increase in the cities with serious impacts on environment and quality of life, there is a growing demand to develop and make use of new information technologies that allow for faster decision making by city planning authorities. This paper presents spatial inferences for two districts of Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais State Capital, Brazil) based on topographical, geological, and geotechnical data as well as on the municipal legislation for urban occupation and the analysis of a Quickbird satellite image. Based on this information, areas with high risk for construction purposes are indicated for two city districts (Belvedere and Buritis).
