AbstractAir-dried aerial parts of wild Salvia lavandulifoliaVahl were collected in two different regions of Morocco and were hydrodistilled to produce oil in 0.9% yield. A total of 34 constituents were identified by GC end GC/MS, the major components are camphor (16–31 %), 1,8–cineole (13–19%), β-pinene (8–13 %), camphene (5–11%) and viridiflorol (0–12 %). Significant variations in the chemical compositions are observed according the plant populations, supporting the hypothesis of two ecotypes.The effect of the parts of plant material and of the harvesting period at different vegetative stages (from March to June) on the oil production and its chemical composition were also examined. |
