Abstrakt: The use of iodized oil as a radiodiagnostic medium dates back a relatively brief period to 1922. Before that time iodized oils had been used as a form of iodine medication and for some time had been administered hypodermically. The opacity of iodized oil to the roentgen ray had been noted accidentally in the course of incidental x-ray plates of parts into which it had been injected. Sicard and Forestier1 suggested its use as a method of making the epidural and subdural spaces roentgenologically visible. At the same time they began to use it in roentgenographic exploration of the pulmonary spaces.Since that time there has been a constantly increasing number of reports on its use by the original authors and by many others.
