• An ad hoc advisory committee was appointed a year ago for study of useful approaches for improving the quality of postgraduate courses and other educational programs for physicians. The initial recommendations of the Committee to the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals is publication of a statement of objectives and basic principles. These include emphasis on use of clinical facilities, more effective educational methods, and the need for appraisal of courses, each of which is briefly discussed in this paper. |
