Abstrakt: • It was found possible to carry out pancreatography during abdominal operations by sectioning the sphincter of Oddi transduodenally and inserting a fine plastic tube for a distance of 4 to 5 cm. into the opening of the pancreatic duct that is found in the posterior wall of the ampulla of Vater. In the absence of acute inflammation, only the larger duct system of the pancreas was delineated, but in the presence of early edema more of the finer ducts became visible and the whole pancreas was outlined faintly. In the presence of acute inflammation the whole pancreas is opacified. Roentgenograms have been obtained showing pseudocyst of the pancreas, dilatation of the pancreatic duct as a result of partial obstruction by calculi, stenosis of the pancreatic duct following a splenectomy, and obstruction of the duct after operation for treatment of a large pseudocyst.
