Abstrakt: To the Editor:—In the editorial on "Insulin Resistance" (The Journal, January 2, p. 52) reference is made to the fact that a patient received 3,250 units of insulin during a period of twenty-four hours. It is commented that this was probably the largest amount of insulin ever administered to a human being.Merely for purposes of record, may I refer to a report (Lozinski, Ezra, and Frohlich, Louis I.: Resistance to Insulin, Canad. M. A. J.46:62 [Jan.] 1942) in which is recorded the history of a patient to whom 5,780 units of insulin was administered in a period of twenty-four hours without the development of hypoglycemic shock.
