Six cases of lymphadenitis due to toxoplasmosis are described. Three of these cases were documented by isolation of the parasite, three others by changes in antibody titers. The clinical picture of lymphadenopathy with varying degrees of fatigue, malaise, and anorexia is discussed in detail. The involvement of skin, heart, and lungs in the adult form of toxoplasmosis is specifically mentioned. Specific laboratory tests and treatment are outlined and the chronic and latent aspects of the illness are considered. The importance of the parasite as a common cause of lymphadenopathy is emphasized. |
