A cytologic survey of 2,161 women in Tijuana, Mexico, revealed 135 abnormal smears and 51 cervical carcinomas. The incidence of cervical cancer was 2.36%. Twenty-five of these lesions were preinvasive. The importance of screening programs in the lower socioeconomic groups is shown by the high incidence of cervicalcancer cases uncovered. |
