Abstrakt: A technique for measuring effective renal plasma flow based on a single injection of sodium iodohippurate I 131 was compared with para-aminohippuric acid clearance determined simultaneously in 25 patients. On the average, the clearance by the single-injection technique was about 19 ml (5%) less than that by the standard procedure. The results indicate that there is a good correlation between the methods. It is suggested that further study with this simpler technique may prove it to be a reliable substitute for the more cumbersome standard method.
