Abstrakt: In the course of 4 1/2 years, 35 children have been treated surgically for ureterovesical reflux and obstruction of the bladder neck. Revision of the bladder neck was carried out in 20 patients. Ureteroneocystostomy was carried out in 45 ureters among 28 patients. Good clinical results, namely elimination of residual urine, pyuria, and other evidence of infection, were obtained in 31 (90%) of the 35 patients. Some failures were ascribed to inherent myogenic or neurogenic difficulties. The authors recommend ileal loop diversion rather than reconstructive surgery when there is evidence of severe renal damage or underlying neurogenic dysfunction.
