Abstrakt: There occurs in the upper alimentary and respiratory tracts a polypoid tumor of sarcomatous-appearing tissue, with intraepithelial or invasive squamous cell carcinoma at the base of the polypoid mass, as originally categorized by Lane. The nature of the sarcomatous tissue is uncertain. It is considered non-neoplastic tissue by some, and a spindle cell variant of squamous cell carcinoma by others. The reported case indicates that it may well be a truly sarcomatous tumor with a metastatic capability independent of the associated squamous cell carcinoma.
