To the Editor: It has been my pleasure to serve for a two-month tour with Project Vietnam in South Vietnam. The trials and tribulations of this nation are known to most of us. The degree of suffering and the need for medical supplies and medical care are beyond belief. There are several partially trained ear, nose, and throat men in South Vietnam. Two of the men are working full time in the Vietnamese army; one of the civilian doctors is 65 years old and would normally be retired. The demands of keeping up with the medical otolaryngological needs for such a few doctors is intense. In the medical school curriculum there are a number of students who appear to have a keen interest in ear, nose, and throat. All of these men are willing to learn and would welcome with open arms help from anyone interested in going there. There |
