THE METHOD of stage classification and end result reporting for laryngeal carcinoma has been used sparingly since the original description published in October 1961 by the task force on larynx.1 Over the past year we have reviewed 306 consecutive cases of laryngeal carcinoma diagnosed and treated at this institution from 1948 to 1959. These cases were classified according to the American Committee's cancer staging and end result system. ECOLOGY The age, sex, and race incidence of laryngeal carcinoma proved to be similar to results obtained in other reports.2 Seventy percent of the patients were between 50 and 70 years of age. The ratio of men to women was 15 to 1. The vast majority of the patients was Caucasian. Only 2.4% of the total were Negroes.
