TO THE EDITOR. —Break dancing, a currently popular form of free-style dance, involves complex acrobatic movements, such as twisting, spinning, tumbling, and kicking. A number of reports in the literature have described injuries caused by break dancing, including fractures,1, bursitis,2 and testicular torsion.3 To our knowledge, this is the first report of an ocular injury caused by break dancing. REPORT OF A CASE. —A 5-year-old boy was brought to the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary, Chicago, after being kicked in the right eye while break dancing with his cousin. The child complained of pain in his right lower eyelid but denied any decrease in vision or other ocular complaints. Ocular examination disclosed an uncorrected visual acuity of 20/40 in both eyes.
