Aneurysm of the Middle Meningeal Artery: A Case Report

Abstrakt: ANEURYSMS of the middle meningeal artery, though a rare clinical entity, are being diagnosed with increasing frequency.1-4,6,10 Their importance lies, not in their rarity, but in their potential threat to the patient's life if they rupture. An identifiable syndrome has been developed with our increasing familiarity with this lesion.5 This syndrome of head injury, skull fracture, and delayed onset of neurological symptoms is present in almost every case reported. The following case report follows the classical pattern in regard to clinical, radiographic, and operative findings in a patient with a traumatic aneurysm of the middle meningeal artery. REPORT OF A CASE History.—The patient is a 52-year-old, white, female bookkeeper. Two weeks before admission, she slipped and struck her head over the right temporal area.
