In reviewing this book, remarks will be confined to the area of the general research design, rather than to a discussion of psychometrics and the validity of statistical analysis, since this is my area of interest and ability. Also omitted are the first 52 pages of résumés of studies done in other settings, which are not a part of this study. On Chapter II, The Research Design, I wish to raise questions, and make criticisms and suggestions which may reflect on the results of the entire work.The authors are to be complimented on their choice of a single diagnostic group, such as schizophrenia, for study. Since knowledge of adequate treatment in this poorly classified group is badly needed, it is to be hoped that many such studies will follow.The work was stated as being designed to ascertain the effects of chlorpromazine and reserpine on a single diagnostic group, |
