Abstrakt: TO THE EDITOR. —I don't know whether to laugh or cry after reading Dr. Bogdonoff's editorial "On a Contradiction Between Intent and Enactment" in the December issue (Arch Intern Med126:1070-1072, 1970).At a time when certain university medical centers are "weeding out" their part-time staff of community practicing physicians, I find it naive if not delusional to think that the "big city" medical center is going to give the practicing internist anything but the back of its hand. How are the present day medical students going to be positively influenced to spend time with the practicing internist when Dr. Stead and others of the "grove of academe" indicate that those "internists" without board certification are in the hinterland of medicine, mentally, professionally, and physically? When Big Brother starts paying the entire medical bill and pays preferentially the superspecialists at the major university centers, will there be more incentive
