Abstrakt: The present review includes articles on phases of hematology published in 1938 and a few articles that appeared in 1937 but were not included in the last review. Because of the increasing number of publications it has been necessary to select certain articles, somewhat arbitrarily at times, and some important contributions no doubt have been omitted. These may be included in forthcoming reviews of articles on diseases of the blood. The trend of hematology appears to be toward the increased reference to the state of the bone marrow in various conditions, especially observations derived from material obtained on sternal puncture, the increased use of quantitative data, the establishment of data for "normal" conditions and the chemical physiology and pathology of disease. PERNICIOUS ANEMIA Askanazy1 has gathered statistics as to the distribution of pernicious anemia in various parts of the world. The incidence varied from no cases in twenty years
