Abstrakt: This is a report of fifteen cases of tinea nigra palmaris which occurred in a small area of southeastern North Carolina and a review of the current literature. Statistically there is a predominance of the disease in young women. Because these lesions may be confused clinically with junctional nevus pigmentosus, a greater awareness of the occurrence of the disease and its mycologic etiology may prevent needless surgical procedures. Since a large number of cases recently were reported as originating in coastal areas of southeastern United States, the possibility of endemic foci in these areas should be kept in mind.
