Although dermabrasion has its greatest usefulness in the treatment of acne scarring,1 there are other areas in which the dermabrasion technique is of value. In our experience we have found the high-speed diamond fraise2 valuable in the treatment of large hyperkeratotic plaques of the palms and soles. The following case report and photographs are presented to illustrate this use. REPORT OF A CASE This 51-year-old woman was seen in 1959 for the treatment of a painful fissuring hyperkeratosis of the heels, as well as a contact dermatitis of the dorsum of the toes. This problem had been present for many years, but had become more disabling within the last 3 years. The patient gave a history of contact sensitivity to rubber extending over a period of 20 years. In 1952 she had been hospitalized for the treatment of an acute contact dermatitis developing in association with the use |
