Synopsis The bond strength between fibre and matrix in cement-based fibre-reinforced composites is usually low and the more successful fibres tend to have some form of mechanical anchorage. However, since the bond strength between fibre and matrix also depends upon the degree of damage sustained by the matrix, the satisfactory prediction of fibre efficiencies is very difficult, and bond test results for single fibres have shown poor correlation with the corresponding tensile properties of the composites. The paper describes an improved form of bond test for single or grouped fibres of various shapes, diameters, lengths and distributions. |
