As with previous reports on recent progress in Radiochemistry, this year’s review will consider new radiochemical methods for isotope production, advances in labelling procedures, radioactive isotopes in the environment and miscellaneous topics of radiochemical interest, but radiation chemistry, neutron activation analysis and the chemistry of elements that happen to be radioactive will not be covered. No new books specifically concerned with radiochemistry have appeared during the past year but a great deal that is of radiochemical interest can be found in ‘Nuclear Energy and the Environment’ [C. Wai and B. Mincher, ‘Nuclear Fuel Management’ ISBN 9780841225855, pub., OUP USA, New York U.S.A., 2011, ref. 1] and ‘Radioactivity: a history of a mysterious science’ [M. C. Malley, Radioactivity – A History of a Mysterious Science, ISBN 13:978-0-19-976641-3, Oxford University Press, Oxford, UK, 2011, ref. 2]. As usual most of the radiochemical conferences held during 2011 dealt with the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals and will be considered later in this review. |
