Abstrakt: Abstract: The concepts of health and homeostasis are discussed and their connection to longevity is analyzed. Homeostasis is one of the cardinal properties of an organism, which emerges in evolution via the mechanisms that maintain a stationary state. Health is an organism’s ability to sustain homeostasis and restore it after the impact of external disturbances. Health maintenance determines human longevity. The factors that affect health, aging, and longevity are considered. Potential reserves of longevity are estimated, and possible ways to achieve it are outlined.
