Abstrakt: It was possible to perform follow-up examination on 42 patients of 58 known to have dumping syndrome after partial gastrectomy, at least ten years earlier. Two-thirds of the sufferers had become symptom free, half of them in about 5 years, the other half needing 7 to 12 years. One-sixth had slight symptoms of dumping and in another sixth the symptoms continued unchanged. This information should be kept in mind when considering operative procedure for relief of dumping syndrome.
