Venturi masks (Ventimasks) designed to deliver 24%, 28%, 35%, and 40% oxygen were tested under clinical and laboratory conditions to determine the effect of in-line humidification on the oxygen concentration delivered. Percent oxygen concentration was determined at specific intervals over a 24-hour period, with and without the use of a jet humidifier at the oxygen source. Contrary to the manufacturer's statement, the results of our study indicate that-in-line humidification has no effect on delivered oxygen concentration. |
