A 24-year-old man suffered from a slight nonproductive cough, runny nose, and general malaise for one month and, in addition, progressive shortness of breath and inspiratory chest pain for two weeks. These symptoms and chest x-ray films were consistent with inhalation lipoid pneumonia, which was later confirmed by biopsy. However, the patient did not use oily nose drops or mineral oil but had been exposed to the occupational inhalation of burning fats. |
