We performed a successful bilateral ex vivo renal artery reconstruction for renovascular hypertension. The technique consists of accurately identifying the lesion, removing the kidney except for its ureteral attachment, and perfusing the kidney with pulsatile oxygenated acellular cryoprecipitated plasma while reconstruction with autogenous saphenous vein is performed. Then the kidney is reimplanted in the ipsilateral iliac fossa. This kind of operation will be useful in some patients with distal segmental renal artery branches or aneurysm.(JAMA 228:493-495, 1974) |
