Abstrakt:	The requirements for the instrumentation to operate small-bore LC columns is reviewed. The dispersion that arises and must be controlled in the column, the connecting tubing, the injector, and the detector is discussed. Simple equations derived by a number of researchers are shown to allow a better feeling for the controlling parameters. The information gained from these equations can be used to minimize problems with mismatches in the small-bore column LC system.
