Abstrakt: Porosity diffusion is shown to propagate from a seismic source in fluid-saturated porous media. It is observed that this process would cause a travelling pulse of pressure associated with the spreading front of porosity and would result in variations in fluid levels in the earth's crust following a seismic event. The interaction between the associated fluid fluxes and seismicity is considered. It is shown that this process can cause secondary fractures, aftershocks and can lead to the interaction of earthquakes.
