Abstrakt: ABSTRACTProsopis cinerariais a very important multipurpose tree species grown in the hot arid areas of India. Growth models for this species are not yet available. The objective of this study was to develop a height-diameter relationship, an anamorphic height growth model and dbh and height growth models for individual trees from a pure even-aged stand of P. cineraria. The data used to fit the equations consisted of observations on heights and diameters of 154 trees, which were measured annually for four years. A height-diameter relationship for the species was established with the model parameters expressed as a function of stand age. Secondly, difference forms of the Schumacher and the Chapman-Richards functions were selected for constructing an anamorphic height growth model. Both the equations behaved in a similar fashion and were bias free. Analyses of the residuals indicated no severe bias or violation of the fundamental statistical assumptions. Individual tree growth models were also tested and the models were found to perform well and the tree dbh growth model can be used to produce stand table projections for the species.
