Abstrakt: A video camera system for aggregate studies in the benthic boundary layer is described. In combination with a bottom water sampler it allows the study of potential cause and effect relationship associated with the morphological, chemical and biological characteristics of aggregates. A computer based image analysis system is used to convert video data to quantitative particle size and morphology data. Results from shallow water deployments reveal that under similar flow conditions the aggregate size distribution was different due to varying particle composition.
