ASPIRIN and indomethacin inhibit the biosynthesis of prostaglandins in various tissues1–3and similar effects have been seen with fenclozic acid4and hydrocortisone5. This together with the growing evidence that prostaglandins, particularly PGF2α, are involved in processes leading to the termination of luteal function and to parturition in several species6–8prompted us to investigate the effects of some anti-inflammatory agents on the time of onset and course of parturition in the rat. |
