Abstrakt: Microprocessors and microprogramming are both impor tant new topics in the design and development of computer systems. This paper discusses the relation ships between these two topics. Microprocessors have been used in the design of microprogrammed systems which emulate minicomputers, act as high-speed con trollers, handle special-purpose tasks in such areas as signal processing and simulation, and allow for the distribution of computing power. Microprogramma ble computers can, in turn, provide valuable support in the design of microprocessors, other associated devices, microprogrammed systems, and ordinary micro processor-based systems.
