| Abstrakt: | 2H‐Imidazol‐2‐ylidene, readily obtained by the photolysis of matrix‐isolated 2‐diazo–2H‐imidazole, should be regarded as a strained cumulene rather than a carbene. It undergoes photolysis to give N‐cyano‐1H‐azirene (shown here). The reactive intermediates were investigated with matrix‐isolation spectroscopy. |
