Possible Accidents With High-current Arcs in ITER Superconducting Magnets

Abstrakt: Experimental data on electric high-current arcs that took place at the tests of superconducting coils for the tokamak T-15 are analyzed. Possible arc initiation locations in the ITER magnet system components are identified. Models used for the numerical simulation of the arc discharges in the ITER coils and feeding lines are described. Possible scenarios of arc development are analyzed. Accident consequences for different scenarios are estimated.
